Full Description

{1} Base and part of shaft of cross. Said to be Saxon. Ironstone. Irregular square base and stump of shaft weathered and moss encrusted. Noted in the "Buildings of England" as Saxon, and having shaft with some simple decoration. This part of the shaft is now missing. (Buildings of England: Northamptonshire, p.307).

{5} Undated photo;

{6} The cross fragment noted above and situated at SP 57444903 is Md not AS; it consists of a square socket stone holding a stub fragment of shaft. See photograph. To the north of the Church at SP 57404907 a 1914-18 memorial cross is erected upon a very early square stone plinth - see photograph, doubtless the base of the original churchyard cross which, together with the above socket stone and shaft, formed the complete monument.
Neither of the portions are in situ and the original site - which was most probably south of the church - was not determined. Church in normal use.

{7} The square stone plinth at SP 57404907 is 1.30m square and 0.2m high. The separate socket stone and shaft fragment was not located. No MSD or AM available.

{9} Drawing of cross and measurements;
