Full Description

{1} House, now public house. Late C17, extended 1734 (datestone). Squared coursed limestone and ironstone rubble, asbestos tile roof, brick and stone stacks. 2 storeys and attic, 3 bays. Doorway, second bay from right has stone 4-centred arch and cut spandrels. 4-panel door. 2 late C17 windows to left are of 5 lights with wood lintels, moulded wood mullions and iron casements. 2 similar 4-light windows on first floor. Bay to right of doorway added early C18. Datestone TM/1734 above and to right of doorway. Ground-floor windows of 3 lights with wood lintel, wood mullions and iron casements. Similar 2-light window on first floor. Interior: Remodelled C19 and C20. (Wood-Jones, R.B., Traditional Domestic Architecture in the Banbury Region, Manchester 1963, p.214).
