Full Description

{1} Farmhouse C17, altered C20. Coursed ironstone and limestone rubble, tiled roof, brick and stone stacks. 4-unit lobby entry plan. 2 storeys and attic, 4 bays. Entrance, third bay from left has C20 stone porch. Two 3-light stone mullioned windows with square hoods to left. Similar 5-light window to right. 2-storey bay window to right with 6-light stone mullioned windows on both floors. In first and second bay from left on first floor are 2-light stone mullioned windows. Similar 4-light window to right. C20 roof lights. Original entrance at rear. Gabled porch 2 storeys and attic in second bay from left. Stone doorway with 4-centred head. Inner doorway has moulded wood surround and C17 nine-panel studded door. All windows at rear are C20 and there are C20 extensions to ground floor. Interior: Fireplace in ground floor room has surround of C17 panelling and overmantel with half columns and bosses. (Re-used) To right is panel S.W.S/1658, also not in situ. (A stone in a barn with similar initials and date 1639 recorded by R. Wood-Jones, has disappeared) (R. Wood-Jones.
