Summary

Built in 1841 by EF Law for the Northamptonshire Union Bank. Neoclassical façade with a pediment holding a carved phoenix, the badge of the former bank.

Full Description

{1} Formerly the Northamptonshire Union Bank. 1841 by E F Law. Ashlar Neoclassical front with tall Composite order to upper floors. Basement and 3 storeys, balustraded roof parapet either side or pediment on 4 fluted half columns. Channelled ground floor has doorways either end, 3 sash windows in projecting centre. Upper florrs have end pilasters; 5 sash windows in eared architrave surrounds, central window frieze, cornice on consoles. Entablature with dentil cornice, tympanum high relief of phoenix. Nos 41 to 49 (odd) form a group.

{2} Built 1841 by E.F.Law; ashlar neoclassical; basement & 3 storeys.

{3} Restrained, majestic and pure. Palladian, with upper giant columns and a pediment holding a carved phoenix, the badge of the former Northamptonshire Union Bank. The interior still has Victorian plaster ceilings with glazed skylights.
