Full Description
{1} Late C18 in Adam manner. 1 storey, ashlar. Main front has central canted bay, 1:3:1 arched French windows with delicately traceried fanlights, diamond pattern glazing to marginal lights. Pairs of slender ribbed cast iron "Tower of the Winds" colonnettes divide windows. Single colonnettes either end and to side elevations. Entablature. Lower back wing has round arched panels to side elevations with verandahs with ribbed Doric cast iron colonnettes. Interior: apse opposite canted bay; 3 glazed saucer domes, 1 large flanked by 2 smaller. Barton Seagrave Hall, Orangery and Outbuildings form a group.
{5} Orangery to west of hall is an exquisitely beautiful little building of late C18th date; round arches separated by immensely elongated almost Pompeiian cast iron columns; glazing bars at windows are also iron & form charming classical or Adamish patterns; 3 glazed domes in roof & central one is larger than flanking ones.
{11} Orangery, late C18th. Repair schedule agreed and underway with grant aid from English Heritage.
