Full Description

{1} Farmhouse, sometime rectory. Late C18 with mid C19 additions and alterations. Original house of coursed limestone rubble, additions of squared coursed ironstone and limestone dressings, slate roofs, stone ridge, end and lateral stacks. 2 storeys. Main block 4-window range, roof hipped to right (originally also to left). Ground floor, has C19 canted bay window and two 6/6 sash windows. First floor has four 6/6 sash windows. Gauged stone heads. Addition to left has hipped roof, 2 sash windows and a panelled and part-glazed door to the ground floor and three 6/6 sash windows above. Right return has C19 porch with board double doors on decorative hinges and 2 blind windows to ground floor. Sash windows above. Addition beyond with 3 sash windows to each storey. 3-storey limestone wing to rear of original block. Interior not inspected.

{3} Map evidence shows that the building was constructed between 1782 and 1810. Documents are available showing schemes for alterations from 1885, 1901 and 1958. These show how the house has changed in considerable detail.
