Summary

World War I memorial by John Alfred Gotch, erected circa 1920. It has a free octagonal Gothic column of ashlar with a panelled and inscribed base raised on three octagonal steps. This is surmounted by a figure of St. George carrying a bronze lance. It originally stood at the junction of the High Street and Church Street. [See 1966/0/6 for former position of memorial]

Full Description

{1} World War I memorial. C.1920. By John Alfred Gotch. Limestone ashlar octagonal free Gothic column with panelled and inscribed base raised on 3 octagonal steps and surmounted by finely-carved figure of St. George carrying bronze lance. Originally stood at junction of High Street and Church Street.

{4} War memorial. Erected in High Street of Weldon Stone. The architects were Messrs Gotch and Saunders of Kettering and the sculptor was Mr AG Wyon of London.
