Summary

Two 17th century houses with 19th century alterations situated on the southern side of Main Street. The building is constructed of regular coursed limestone with a double pitch Collyweston slate roof with chimney stacks at the left gable and in the centre. The main front has a five window range of casements with the centre right bay breaking forward as a gabled crosswing. There is evidence of two blocked doors at the centre and on the left. The main house has a slighly lower eaves line to the crosswing and has two gabled dormer windows lighting an attic range. [Alternatively known as Wendimuir or Wendmuir]

Full Description

{1} Two houses shown as Wedmuir on Ordnance Survey map; the house so named to the west is not included. House, now 2 dwellings. C17 and C19. Regular coursed limestone with Collyweston slate roof. Originally 3-unit plan, now T-shape. Single storey with attic. 5-window range with bay to right of centre breaking forward as a gabled cross wing. Irregularly spaced C20 casement windows under wood lintels. Evidence of 2 blocked doors to centre and left. 2 gabled roof dormers, to left, have C19 style casement windows. Hipped eaves dormer to right. Brick and ashlar stack at ridge and end; end stack to left has a moulded corbel. Entrance at rear.
