Summary

An early 18th century house with an attached mid 19th century post office/shop situated on the northern side of Main Street. Both buildings are constructed of squared coursed limestone with the post office extension having ashlar dressings and quions. The house is single story with an attic range lit by a single hipped roof dormer on the front of a steeply pitched Collyweston slate roof. The road front has a central door flanked by two casement windows under wooden lintels. The shop/post office is attached to the left of the house with a shared chimney stack at the division. It is two storys high with a central sash window under a cambered brick arch to the first floor, above a glazed shop front with a post box on the right.

Full Description

House. Early C18. Squared coursed limestone with Collyweston slate roof. Originally 2-unit plan. Single storey with attic. 2-window range of C19 casements under wood lintels. Central C19 four-panel door; is also under wood lintel. Hipped, roof dormer, to left, has horizontal sliding sash window. Brick stack, now rendered, at end. Single-storey extension to rear. Mid C19, single-unit, 2-storey shop is attached to left. Interior not inspected. (RCHM: An Inventory of Architectural Monuments in Nor h Northamptonshire: p174)
