Summary

A house situated between Main Road and Stamford Road that is accessed via a driveway that runs north from Stamford Road. The house was built in 1702 and extended and remodelled during the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a hipped Collyweston slate roof with laterial chimney stacks. A sundial on the facade has the inscription 'Naro Vera'. A datestone of 1702 is located on the left chimney stack.

Full Description

{1} House. Datestone 1702, extended and remodelled early/mid C19. Squared coursed limestone with ashlar dressings. Collyweston slate roof. L-shape plan. 2 storeys. Main front is of 3-window range. Central, C20 part-glazed door with ashlar dressings. 6-panel, unhorned, sash windows with similar ashlar dressings. Ashlar quoins. Hipped roof with lateral stone stacks. Datestone on left stack, is probably reset. Sundial to first floor right of main front has inscription, "Naro Vera". 3-window range of le ded casements, under wood lintels, at right angles to rear. Interior: kitchen in rear range probably has open fireplace, now blocked. Early C19 staircase with stick balustrade.
