Summary

A house that was built in 1686 and altered during the 19th century is situated on the western side of Church Street. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a double pitch Collyweston slate roof with chimney stacks on the ridge and at the rear gable. The house is single story and with an attic range lit by three gabled roof dormers and has an irregular range of three light ovolo moulded stone mullion windows. The left gable has a central casement window to the ground floor with a two light stone mullion window above with a datestone above the lintel. The left return has a doorway under a wooden porch with two casement windows to its left. Full Description

{1} House, now 2 dwellings. Datestone W/CE/1686 altered C19. Squared coursed limestone with Collyweston slate roof. Originally 3-unit plan. Single storey with attic. Irregular 3-window range of 3-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion windows, set high above ground level. 3 gabled eaves dormers to attic; one has remains of leaded-light. Ashlar gable parapet to left. 2 stone stacks at ridge. Left gable has C20 door to left and C20 casement to centre, both under wood lintels. Stone mullion window above, ith datestone in apex of gable. Interior of No.23 has remains of an open fireplace with bressumer. Converted into 3 dwellings during C19.
