Summary

This house was the Manor House that was built in 1695 and was originally sited on the High Street. The house was rebuilt on the western side of Stamford Road in 1912 and renamed Collyweston Manor. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and ashlar with double pitch Collyweston slate roofs with a symmetrical row of end and ridge chimney stacks. The house is two stories high with an attic range lit by five hipped roof dormer windows. The principle facade faces to the south east and has a five window range of two light, cavetto moulded stone mullioned windows with transoms to the first floor. Similar arrangements of windows are on the ground floor flanking a central entrance porch with a hipped roof. The right gable has a single range of two light stone mullion windows and the left gable has a stone mullioned bay window. The facade to the north east has a single gabled dormer window and tripartite casement windows.

Full Description

{1} Manor house. Datestone 1695, rebuilt 1912 using C17 masonry. Squared coursed limestone with Collyweston slate roof. Double-depth plan. 2 storey with attic. Main front is a 5-window range of 2-light cavetto moulded, stone mullion windows, with transoms. Secondary single-light windows, with transoms, flanking centre bay on each floor. Central panelled door has porch with hipped roof. Chamfered plinth and moulded cornice linking ground floor window heads. 5 eaves dormers with leaded casements and hipped roofs. Ashlar gable parapets and ashlar stacks at ridge and end. Right gable has one-window range of 2-light stone mullion windows similar to main front. Left gable has early C20 bay window with stone mullions. Rear wing is part rendered and has early C20 casement windows with glazing bars. Interior not inspected but noted as having a reset staircase with turned balusters and a reset fireplace with bolection moulded surround. The house originally stood in the High Street, Collyweston and was rebuilt on its present site in 1912.
