Summary

A late 18th century and mid to late 19th century building known as Mill House is situated on the northern side of Mill Street. The building is perpendicular to the street with its southern gable facing the road. It is two storeys high with an attic range lit by three hipped roof dormer windows, each with a two light casement. The house is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a double pitch Collyweston slate roof with ashlar parapets and ridge and gable chimney stacks. The entrance facade faces to the west and has four, two light casement windows beneath the eaves above a central doorway and window that is flanked by two canted bay windows on the left and right.

Full Description

{1} House. Late C18 and mid/late C19. Squared coursed limestone with stone slate roof. Originally 3-unit plan. 2 storeys with attic. 4-window range of late C19 leaded casements, under stone lintels, with hood moulds. Late C19 canted wood bay windows to ground floor left and right. 6 panel door, to centre, under stone lintel, has glazed toplights. 3 hipped roof dormers. Ashlar gable parapets and ashlar ridge and end stacks. Mid/late C19 wing, to rear, has sash windows under stone lintels with keyblocks. Interior not inspected but said to have reset C17 style frieze, above fireplace, in rear wing.
