Summary

The site of a farmhouse and outbuildings with 16th century origins that were remodelled in the early to mid 19th century creating a single house. The building is located on the eastern side of Deene Road at the junction with Wakerley Road and is constructed of squared coursed limestone and lias. The house has a double pitch Welsh slate roof with chimney stacks on the roof ridge and at the gable ends. The roof to the outbuilding to the south is similar but lower. The entrance facade has a three window range of two light stone mullion windows with arched glazing bars to the first floor with two, three light stone mullion windows with arched glazing bars flanking an entrance porch on the ground floor. The outbuilding to the right has a blocked wagon entrance.

Full Description

Farmhouse, now house. C16 origins raised and remodelled early/mid C19. Squared coursed lias and limestone, with Welsh slate roof. Originally 3-unit plan. 2 storeys. 3-window range of C19 two-light stone mullion windows with arch-head lights, at first floor, and similar 3-light windows at ground floor. Central C19 gabled porch with 4 centre arch-head doorway and C20 door. Ashlar ridge and end stacks. Outbuilding attached to right, with one blocked doorway, now forms part of house. Left gable is s uared coursed lias with chamfered plinth and evidence of C18 roof line. Part of outbuilding to rear is now incorporated in house. Interior not inspected but noted as having some stop-chamfered spine beams. (RCHM: An Inventory of Architectural Monuments in North Northamptonshire: p86)
