Summary

A 17th century farmhouse with early 18th and 19th century alterations situated on the southern side of Gretton Road. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone and ashlar with a double pitch Collyweston slate roof with brick chimney stacks on the ridge and at the right gable end. The north facing entrance facade has a four window range of one and two light casements under wooden lintels and a central door with access steps. The right return has two stone mullioned cellar windows.

Full Description

Farmhouse now house. Probably C17 origins, early C18 and C19. Squared coursed limestone with Collyweston slate roof. Originally 3-unit plan. 2 storeys with attic and cellar. 4-window range of one- and 2-light casements with glazing bars, under wood lintels. Central C20 door, also under wood lintel, has flight of steps. 3-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion window, to cellar, to far right. Ashlar gable parapets and brick stacks at ridge and end. Right gable has 2 stone mullion cellar windows, simil r to front elevation. Interior: kitchen has remains of open fireplace, with bressumer, and stop-chamfered spine beams. Room to far right, over cellar, is at a higher level. Some C18 plank and panelled doors. (RCHM: An Inventory of Architectural Monuments in North Northamptonshire: p85)
