Building record 2600/11/1 - No.59 Church Street

A mid 18th-century house constructed from squared coursed limestone with a concrete tile roof.

{1} House. Mid C18. Squared coursed limestone with concrete tile roof. Originally 2-unit plan. 2 storeys. 2-window range of C19 casements under wood lintels, those at ground floor have been rendered over. Central C19, part-glazed, door is also under wood lintel. Ashlar quoins and gable parapets and brick and stone stacks at ends. Interior not inspected. (RCHM: An Inventory of Architectural Monuments in North Northamptonshire: p161)

{4} A rammed earth floor was seen during works to the house in 2003. Associated finds included a number of 19th century coins and a Canterbury token.
