Summary

This site includes a house situated on the western side of King Arms Lane. The house was constructed of coursed limestone and ashlar with a double pitched thatched roof during the late 17th century. The building was altered in 1821 with an extension on the northern side. The house has the letters T T inscribed on a date stone on the left gable and the extension has a date stone inscribed with Rice Slatcher 1821. The house is currently a public house.

Full Description

Public House. Probably late C17 and C18 with datestone Rice Slatcher/1821. Squared coursed limestone with thatch roof. Originally probably 2-unit plan now L-shaped. 2 storeys. Irregular 4-window range of C20 casements, those to right are under original wood lintels and those to left have C20 concrete lintels. C20 door, under wood lintel, to far left. C20 lean-to extension to left of centre has artificial slate roof. Ashlar gable parapets and brick stacks at ridge and end. Left gable has inscribe panel "T.T.". Rear wing is similar to main front, with a thatch roof. Interior: 2 rooms to left have open fireplaces, with bressumers, and stop-chamfered spine beams. 2 bays to right were formerly a separate dwelling.
