Full Description
{1} School now house and school masters' houses. Datestone 1828. Squared coursed lias with slate roof. Originally a one-unit school with a 2-unit schoolmaster's house attached. 2 storeys. North elevation of 4-window range. 3 windows to left have C19 cast iron, arch head with centre pivot and glazing bars, all with brick dressings. One C19 casement with wood lintel to right. C20 garage door to left of centre and C20 door under wood lintel to right of centre. Ashlar gable parapets and brick stacks at ridge and ends. Similar arch head windows to rear. Later C19 brick and stone extension to rear also has arch head windows. Inscribed tablet at rear of The Old School. "Walgrave and Hannington National Schools, Erected 1828, Sir James Langham Bart, Patron Rev'd Rich'd Pretyman, Rector".
{3} The extension of the 1870s to house toilets and new staircase covers the earlier windows in the main block.
