Full Description

{1} Country house, now school. Late C18. Limestone ashlar with graded slate roof. Double depth plan. 3-storey, 5-window range. Central C19 porch with pilasters and moulded stone cornice. Sash windows with glazing bars, reducing at second floor level, all under flat stone arches with keystones. String course between ground and first floor, moulded stone cornice, ashlar gable parapets and kneelers and brick and stone stacks at ridge and end. Tall C19 brick extension to left. Single storey C19 extension to right with C20 extension above. Rear similar with C20 extension. Interior: Fine C18 staircase with quarter landings and 3 balusters per tread rising from central entrance hall which has glazed arched screen with Adam style late C18 and C19 fireplace in ground floor room at rear to left and right of staircase also in entrance hall and left of entrance. C19 fireplace in first floor centre room has cast iron folding shutters across fire basket. (Buildings of England : Northamptonshire, p.407)..
