Full Description

{1} House. Dated 1697. Coursed squared ironstone, corrugated iron roof replacing thatch, brick ridge and end stacks. 3-unit lobby entry plan. 2 storeys and attic. 6-panel part-glazed door just to left of centre with C20 gabled hood. Datestone above inscribed P/WS/AD/1697. To left a 3-light casement window replacing 2 older windows whose lintels remain in place above. To right of door a 2-light casement and further 6-panel part-glazed door with C20 hood to far right. 2-light casements to first floor. Windows and doors have timber lintels. Stone coped gables with kneelers. Brick stack to right is a later addition against gable end wall. Single-storey brick rear extension. Interior has ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams, 2 open fireplaces with stop-chamfered bressumers, winder stair and collar truss roof.

{3} Information that the roof of the building still contains parts of the original thatch under the corrugated tin roof covering. The 'lower half of the roof interior is covered in a horse hair plaster and the upper half was left as bare thatch'. Some seed heads reportedly present, and the thatch is secured in a number of places with twisted hazel rods.
The attic space contains a possibly original 'very low door with iron fittings' and there is a re-used panelled foor on the ground floor between the hall and living room.
