Full Description

{1} Pair of houses, now one dwelling. Early C18, altered early C19. Coursed ironstone and limestone rubble, corrugated iron roof, brick stacks. 2 storeys and cellars; 4 bays. Blocked cellar window with wood lintel in right bay. Doorway in second bay from right approached by 3 stone steps has early C19 wood frame with fluted pilasters and entablature with corner roundels and 6-panel door. 2-light casement windows with wood lintels either side. Doorway in second bay from left has wood lintel and plank door. 3-light casement window with wood lintel to left, similar 2-light window to right. 3-light casement window with wood lintel in left bay on the first floor. Other first floor windows are 2-light casements with wood lintels. Interior: set of chamfered beams on the ground floor. Room in left section has two bread ovens with old iron doors embossed with trade mark "David Ogg Northampton Foundry. Improved coal oven". Two one-storey extensions to left, C18-C19, similar materials. The outer extension, formerly a butcher's shop, has doorway with wood lintel and plank door and window to right with plank shutters. The left section of the main house was formerly the village bakery. The right section was the Crown Inn Public house until c.1950.
