Full Description
{1} Coachouse, stables, farmhouse and barn, now country park facilities, farmhouse and barn. Datestone 1768 for Palmer family of East Carlton Hall (q.v.). Brick with slate roofs; part of barn is squared coursed limestone with Swithland slate roof. U-plan. Part 2 storeys. Home Farmhouse occupies south wing and has main front of 3-window range of sash windows with glazing bars under gauged brick heads. Central 6-panel door has fanlight with glazing bars and moulded wood surround. Moulded wood cornice and hipped roof with brick stacks at ridge. 7-window range to left is rear of former stables and coach-house and links to barn which has central cart entrance with segmental arch head. Hipped roof. Elevation to rear of barn is stone with blocked central cart entrance. Main elevation of former coachouse and stables to rear of Home Farm is a 7-bay range. Centre bay breaks forward with large carriage arch now glazed, and pediment over. 3-window range to either side of C20 casements in original openings at first floor with gauged brick heads and keyblocks. Ground floor retains some original gauged brick heads with keyblocks. Openings are C20 reconstruction. Gabled roof. Large armorial plaque with date in pediment. Interior of Home Farmhouse has late C18 staircase with turned balusters. Rooms to rear have evidence of brick vault, formerly an open carriage arch. Interior of barn has brick cross wall to left pierced by arch head and circular openings. Interior of stables and coachouse was remodelled C20.
{2} Datestone 1768; built for Palmers of East Carlton Hall; brick-built with slate roofs; U-shaped plan with Home Farmhouse occupying south wing; barn has central cart entrance; buildings now form part of country park facilities.
