Full Description
{1} Circa 1900 purpose built bank and house with much Georgian detail. 2 storeys. Roughcast 1st floor with sandstone dressings. Gable end graded slate roof with copings and corniced ashlar chimneys. Moulded stone cornice and parapet with coping. 4 windows to 1st floor with shallow stone architrave surrounds and cornice over, plate glass sashes. The ground floor has built out ashlar sandstone bank front: one window to left and 2 to right, framed by fluted Renaissance Ionic pilasters on pedestals. Plain frieze and moulded cornice broken forward in line with pilasters, crowning blocking course. The elevation is an integral part of the street picture.
{3} Bank, East side of High Street. Building shown on Ordnance Survey map of 1922 as 'bank'. Now used by Barclays Bank. The building appears to be of early 20th century date and of typical bank style architecture - employing classical motifs such as columns etc.
{4} Five undated photos, also photo dated 08.07.1991, also photo dated 04.12.1991;
