Building record 3619/0/25 - Dovecote c.20m East of Dovecote House

Rectangular dovecote or likely mid-17th century date. Regular coursed limestone with pantile roof.

{1} Dovecote. Probably C17. Regular coursed limestone with pantile roof. Rectangular plan. East gable has small plank door with heavy arch-head wood surround under wood lintel. South elevation has loft door. Ashlar gable parapets. Interior not inspected but said to contain nesting boxes.

{3} Almost square, measuring 21'6" by 18'6"; the height to the eaves is c16' and to the ridge c26'. The walls are 2'9" thick and have a slight batter. Door possibly original. Probably mid 17th century. About 580 nests. Photo and illustrations of door and kneeler.
