Please read our .

Summary

Earthworks of former limestone quarrying of uncertain date seen in Little Wood on lidar and mapped as part of the Rutland Roman Villa project. Faint earthwork traces of further possible pitting can be seen extending NE of the woodland. Little Wood appears to exist by at least 1841, so the quarrying presumably predates the mid C19.
