Summary

Earthwork of a large circular mound. No trace of a structure can be seen on top. The windmill had gone by 1742 as it is not shown on the Preston Capes map of that date.

Full Description

{1} A large circular mound 1.5m high x 11m diameter, with a flat top 4m across and a slight central depression. There is no evidence for a surrounding ditch. Its west side has been cut by the modern hedge-bank, and to the east the adjacent ridge and furrow terminates about 8m short of the mound. The windmill had gone by 1742 as it is not shown on the Preston Capes map of that date.

{4} At SP 5758 5434, adjacent to the road and partly cut by a hedgerow is a mill mound. No traces of a structure are to be seen on top. See 25" survey.

{5} No change to field report of 30.4.70. Antiquity Model Survey correct.
