Full Description

{2} The building is built of coursed squared local limestone with lime mortar under a Welsh Slate roof. There is clear evidence on both the southernmost gable and long elevations that the building has been re-roofed and the eaves raised. The pitch of the original gable visible on the southern gable suggests the building was originally thatched. The building is clearly recorded on the Inclosure Map of 1817-19 and is likely therefore, to be at least 18th century in date.

There is a small carriage door on the principal elevation as well as an arrow slit opening to the north and a large, inserted window to the south. There is evidence of a blocked arrow slit opening below the southern window. Above the door is a substantial, re-used oak lintel. There are 20th century Fletton bricks below the lintel, which along with the awkward northern reveal with multiple straight joints suggests the door has been altered during the later part of the 20th century.Internally, there is little of architectural or historical significance, the roof is common rafters with six modern deal trusses, and some of the common rafters show evidence of re-use.
