Full Description

{1}Evaluation trenching in Magpie Lane revealed stone walls parallel to and at right angles to the Oxford road, interpreted as property boundaries. Pottery would indicate activity of the 12th century onwards. There was no evidence for buildings fronting to Magpie lane, though further work is needed along the lane to confirm this was true further to the west, indeed the north south boundary may represent the eastern boundary of such tenements.
