Full Description

{1} The charters are vague but close reading suggests that some burgage tenements may have clustered on the west side of Watling Street, near to the junction with Park Lane.
The one exception to this seems to have been Park Street, the southern end of the triangle already mentioned on the west side of Watling Street. On the opposite side of the road the plots run back to a boundary formed by Sponne Yard, behind 189-191 Watling Street, and gradually increase in depth from a few yards at the corner of Watling Street to about 90 yards by the time one reaches the junction with Brackley Road, which seems to be the western edge of a regular pattern of plots.
