Full Description

{1} The process of urban expansion is also reflected, as in so many other towns, by the existence of an area of tenements called ‘Le Newland’. In 1433 a messuage there was described as extending from Watling Street to ‘le Comyn Balke below the town’. This location cannot be identified with certainty.
