Full Description

{1} The remainder of the site was ocupied by a large irregular feature. This feature contained loose limestone with finds including blue slate, brick and sherds of 19th century earthernware. The bottom of the feature was not found. This feature might be best explained as a 19th or even early 20th century small-scale quarry, exploiting the thin seams of limestone contained within the Great Oolite geology which underlies the site.
