Monument record 1153/1 - Medieval/Post Medieval Road Route (Northampton Road)

Possibly the route of the 'Old Northampton Road' shown on Baker's 19th century plan of Towcester. Archaeological observation of a trench excavated across this alignment did not identify any features.

{1} Post medieval document; "Old Northampton Road" is visible on Baker's plan of Towcester (info: G. Foard 12/07/79).

{4} Medieval/post medieval earthwork; possibly the "Old Northampton Road" visible on Baker's plan of Towcester (info G. Foard 12/07/79). The earthwork comprises two parallel ditches running between the ridge and furrow.

{5} Archaeological observation undertaken during the excavation of trenches for a new gas main did not identify any features or finds.
