Abstract/Summary

Wardell Armstrong LLP was commissioned by the Client, tRIIO Strategic Partnership, to undertake an archaeological watching brief at the Easton Neston Estate, Towcester, South Northamptonshire (Centred on NGR: SP 6975 4897). The watching brief was required to investigate the potential for archaeological remains ahead of a permitted development comprising changes to the gas network at the Easton Neston Estate. Works comprised the installation of a gas main through a combination of open cut trench and underground drilling, the latter facilitated by launch/receive pits which were located at intervals along the route. The watching brief was undertaken in accordance with a written scheme of investigation produced by Wardell Armstrong. The archaeological watching brief was undertaken over two days between the 21 st and the 22nd July 2020. The investigation revealed no archaeological features or deposits. One sherd of pottery was recovered assessed as Roman in date
