Full Description

{1} Excavation: Another hitherto unknown road approaches the Alchester-Towcester road from the south west; defined by side ditches of C3-4th AD date related to field ditches, with a central gravel strip 6m wide.

[HER note: error in reference- road approaches from the south-east].

{2} In the late 3rd century to early 4th century another road was created; it was 6m wide and consisted of pieces of limestone resting on natural clay. This sat within a 'road-zone' 10m wide delimited by side ditches. The general direction of the road suggests that its direction the road suggests that its destination was Fleet Marston, where there was a substantial settlement.
