Building record 8445/1/14 - Military Huts at Sywell Airfield

{1} AA has identified location and type of some of the wartime hutting at Sywell Airfield. The airfield's Air Ministry plan identifies huts used on the dispersals around the airfield perimeter as AM Lang huts. Using contemporary photos AA says that these "clearly show MoS (Ministry of Supply) Thorbex huts, which were the same size and built of similar materials but are described as 'cant sided'. They were only in production for six months (January - July 1941) and must be quite unusual. The location of one these huts can be identified from its background (SP 8300 6821) where its concrete floor remains."
