Full Description

{1} Earthworks of a hollow way and the banks of closes. Indistinct and may include ridge and furrow within some closes.

{2} NCCAP:SP8263/008.

{3} West Street, now just a cul de sac, once ran on to rejoin the High Street to the south of the village. Until the earthworks were recently levelled it could be traced as a linear hollow in a pasture field surrounded by ridge and furrow. The southern end of this road had gone out of use long before the earliest map of the village was drawn in 1703. In the C18th West Street was no more than a back lane and there is no archaeological evidence to indicate whether or not any part of this street was ever lined by houses in the medieval period.
