Full Description

{1} SP811713, Hannington, ring ditch.

{2} Site of cropmark ring ditch. A large, low mound was clearly visible in the field.

{3} Air photographs taken since 1966 shoe a large double ring ditch c.200ft in diameter. A pair of ditches approach it from the west. There are other indeterminate cropmarks within the same field. A mound is still visible on the site of the ring ditch, and Roman pottery has been found to the south of it.

{5} Cropmarks of a double ring ditch with diameters of 18m and 40m.The inner ditch is narrow, the outer one being much wider. The barrow mound survives, 28m in diameter and 0.5m high. The barrow is overlain by Romano-British settlement features.
