Monument record 3550/1/7 - Ring Ditch VII, Grendon Quarry

Please read our .

Summary

A ring ditch at Grendon, part of a complex of cropmarks excavated in 1974-5 in advance of gravel extraction (see parent record and associated monuments). In the final excavation report, this ring ditch (listed as number VII) is not described and was presumably not excavated. Reference is made to a ring ditch VIII, work on which was abandoned due to severe flooding. As there is no other mention of a ring ditch VIII, it is possible that this is a misprint and a reference to ring ditch VII.
