Full Description
{2} Trial trench excavation was undertaken in 1995. In Trench 5 a ditch probably corresponding to the main enclosure ditch was excavated. 66 sherds of Roman pottery were found. Some 2.7m inside the ditch a spread of gravel and cobble stones, some 4.5m wide, was found. Twenty-four
sherds of pottery and two piece of glass were recovered; all are of Roman date. Outside the enclosure a shallow ditch 750mm wide and 150mm deep was found.
