Full Description

{1} Air photographs show a compact group of small enclosures, with a possible ditched trackway approaching from the south-west. Two intersecting pit alignments lie immediately to the east and another isolated enclosure to the north;

{3}Trial excavation 1990; D Jackson; numerous pit alignments were some of the earliest features on site; these were replaced by linear boundaries and ditched enclosures- at least of the enclosures dated to the middle to late Iron Age; finds were sparse;

{5}Numerous (Iron Age) pit alignments, clearly some of the earliest features on the site, were replaced by ditched linear boundaries with associated enclosures. At least two of the enclosures date to the middle to late Iron Age period. The paucity of finds from the enclosures suggests that they may have been associated with small farming communities.

{8} Pioneer Aggregates Quarry, Wollaston. Excavations ahead of gravel quarrying. A double pit alignment was shown to predate the Iron Age enclosures
