Full Description

{2} Ditched trackway and enclosures on the north side of a small north-west flowing stream, on gravel at 44m above OD. Air photographs (in NMR) show a ditched trackway with an enclosure at its south end. The latter has a number of internal features, including at least two pennanular or ring ditches, probably hut-circles. Two other sub-rectangular enclosures and an irregular linear ditch are also visible in the area.

{3} The enclosure was of Iron Age date and could have been sited in the corner of a field bordered by pit alignments or ditches. A double boundary was present to the south of the enclosure and may have bordered a trackway or droveway between fields. It is likely that this enclosure contained roundhouse(s).

{4} Ditched enclosure with (?) internal building at (SP 897639). (Aerial photograph, unnumbered 7 7 59.)

{5} Nothing visible on APs (RAF 1947))

{6} Both of these sites are under crop. Mr Hall has walked the area when it was ploughed but found nothing. Probably an RB site.

{7} Cropmarks of enclosures and pits at SP 896640 in Wollaston parish.
