{1} Further to the west and north of the castle are two deeply cut hollow ways which formerly led into the village near the church. These appear to have been abandoned by the early C17th.

{5} Earthworks of the medieval village of Rockingham include two hollow ways to the north-west of the castle. They run north-eastwards through the banks and ditches of building platforms and small enclosures.
