Full Description

{1} Windmill mound (SP 98678918) lies immediately west of the main A427 road, between Upper and Lower Benefield on the crest of a valley, at 250ft above OD. The mound is roughly circular, 15m in diameter, 1.5m
high with a flat top. A ditch 5-7m wide and 0.5m deep is traceable around it. The fields to the north and east were both called Mill Field in 1824.

{3} SP98678916. A mound proved to be a fine circular windmill mound, about 21yds in diameter, 4ft high with a flat top and surrounded by a ditch 4-5yds wide with a causeway on the north east and south west sides.

{4} Field now ploughed and mound destroyed.

{5} Windmill photographed previously now destroyed but pieces of C13th pottery and millstone grit present.
