Full Description

{1} NCCAP:SP4934/001-5.

{2} A roughly rectangular enclosure, orientated north-east to south-west and 50m x 25m, is bounded on all but the south-west corner by a scarp up to 2m high at the north-east end, but elsewhere only 1m-1.5m high. In a few places there are slight indications of an external ditch, but quarry pits along the outer edge of the scarp, as well as within the enclosure itself, have removed most traces of the ditch and any interior features.

{3} The area was devoid of buildings in 1840.

{4} The manor house platform has proved to have a fairly weak magnetic signature. Much of its perimeter is poorly defined, with clear magnetic anomalies occurring only at the north-eastern and south-eastern corners. Unfortunately, the data does not reveal anything about the structures that may have stood on the platform, as any relevant anomales have been masked by magnetic disturbance of more recent origin.
