Full Description
{2} In the western portion of the field, the magnetometry survey detected a large and amorphous zone of weak and irregular magnetic anomalies with sharply defined edges to the north and north-east. The location and extent of this corresponds well with a set of cropmarks indicative of backfilled quarry pits. The date of the quarrying is unknown, but no quarries are depicted on the available historic mapping, and the survey data shows no evidence of the scrap metal and other magnetic debris which typically occurs in the backfill of modern quarries.
