Full Description

{1} Pond and settlement remains (SP 59505735), immediately S. of Great Everdon church, in a small valley on clay at about 170 m above OD. The valley floor here appears to have been widened and deepened to form a large depression about 1 m deep. It may originally have been a fishpond. A little to the SW are two well-defined hollow-ways, and an area of disturbed ground possibly the sites of former buildings

{3, 4} Everdon (SP 595 574) Earthworks to S of church photographed from air by P Everson and D Cowley during 1974.

{5} The field is centred at SP 5944 5733. The earthworks, now under pasture, consist of a well defined hollow-way cut into the slope and running along the S side of he field, and another joining it at the W side of the field. The remaining amorphous hollows and slight mounds within the area contained by the hollow-ways are the non surveyable vestiges of village shrinkage.
