Full Description

{1} The pale of the deer park which was created out of Badby Wood by the Abbot of Evesham in 1245-6, complicates the field archaeology relating to the Anglo-Saxon charter boundary. There is a gap in the park pale at SP567586. Three parallel banks of uncertain function run from the corner of Badby Wood (SP57265804) to the Dower House where they disappear from view, but then continue to the northwest and run strongly towards Badby Wood before being removed by ploughing at SP566580. The northern-most boundary is best regarded as forming part of the medieval boundary for Badby deer park, however the remaining banks may have delimited a trackway.
