Full Description

{1} The farm opposite the church was pulled down by Col. Lancaster after WWII as it blocked the view from the Hall.

{2} Cropmark identified as a "Georgian" farm from map sources by J.Pickering.

{3} Incorrectly located by Pickering at SP735795.

{5} A large area of disturbed readings in the south of the survey area most probably relates to the location of the Georgian farmhouse: the response being due to a spread of ceramic building material buried in the near-surface relating to the destruction of the property. This debris, perhaps unsurprisingly, covers a wider extent than the footprint recorded in the NMP survey.
A series of high resistance linear anomalies correlate with the outer walls of the Georgian Farm house known from Aps and historic maps. Some internal detail of room divisions is visible along the northern EW wall.

{6} Two occupation layers were noted. The upper revealed stake holes of light sheds dating from the C16th to the C18th.

{7} SP 735 797: An aerial photograph showing the ground plan of a demolished Georgian farmhouse.
