Abstract/Summary

Magnetometer, earth resistance and Ground Penetrating Radar surveys were conducted on part of the deserted medieval viallge to the South and East of Kelmarsh Hall, Northamptonshire. The initial results were intended to inform a display for the Festival of History 2005, held at the site, with further results being collected with public participation at the event. The geophysical response was good with all techniques providing excellent results. Not only was more detial revealed about the system of medieval tofts and crofts and a now demolished Georgain faarmhouse, but also a previously unknown complex of buildings was discovered opposite the Hall, interpreted as the site of an earlier manor house.
