Monument record 1283/0/1 - Possible prehistoric round barrow
Please read our guidance about the use of Northamptonshire Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
A cropmark enclosure or ring ditch is visible on air photographs. It is up to 34 metres in diameter, and features a possible entrance causeway on its south or southwest side. It occurs in an area covered with the cropmarks of periglacial features, making interpretation difficult. Harding and Lee include it in their gazetteer of henges, suggesting that such an interpretation is by no means out of the question. The cropmark remains of this ring ditch have been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the Rutland Roman Villa Project.
